Mohammad K. Islam, O.D.

Dr. Islam joined Commerce Family Eyecare in 2003 after earning his Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Optometry. He also graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology from UAB, where he was recognized as one of the top two international students in the academic category. His achievements have earned him recognition from the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, including a certificate of excellence in 1995. Dr. Islam is trained in primary care optometry, treating and managing ocular injuries and diseases, fitting contact lenses, low vision rehabilitation, and vision therapy. He gained valuable experience interning at the VA Hospital and Vision America of Birmingham, a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice. In his free time, Dr. Islam enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two children.
