What Makes a Contact Lens Exam Different

A contact lens exam isn’t just a quick add-on, it’s a more in-depth visit that looks at how lenses will actually work with your eyes, day to day. We measure how your cornea curves, how your eyes move, how your tears behave, and how your prescription works in a real-world setting not just on paper.

This isn’t about guessing or hoping the lens works. It’s about getting it right, using data, diagnostic tools, and the kind of experience that comes from fitting lenses for a wide range of eyes, ages, and conditions.

The Right Tools & the Time to Use Them

We use detailed imaging technology to support every fitting. That includes:

  • Corneal topography to map your eye’s shape.

  • Auto-keratometry (Topcon CR800) to measure curve and surface.

  • Zeiss OCT to check eye health before fitting.

  • Tear film evaluation to make sure your lenses will stay comfortable throughout the day.

But what matters just as much as the equipment is how we use it: with time, care, and a focus on education.

We Fit More Than Just Standard Lenses

Most practices fit soft lenses and call it a day. We go further, because many patients need more than a basic fit. We offer custom exams and fittings for:

  • Scleral lenses—for keratoconus, dry eye, and corneal scarring.

  • RGP (gas-permeable) lenses—for sharper focus or high prescriptions.

  • Ortho-k lenses—worn overnight to correct vision during the day.

  • MiSight® 1-day—daily soft lenses clinically proven to slow myopia in children.

  • NaturalVue®—another option for managing myopia progression in kids and teens.

If you’ve been told contacts aren’t an option for you or they’ve never felt quite right we would love to re-evaluate. You may just need a more precise fit and someone willing to take the time to get it right.

Pediatric Contact Lens Exams That Build Confidence

We start seeing kids at age four, and many of our pediatric patients eventually become great contact lens wearers, especially those in our myopia management program. Our team takes extra care with first-time wearers and younger patients, offering slow-paced education, guided practice, and room to ask every question (sometimes twice).

We offer a large variety of daily soft lenses like MiSight®, as well as overnight options like ortho-k. We’ll help you decide what fits best with your child’s needs, personality, and lifestyle.

Built for Comfort in More Ways Than One

From the front desk to the exam room, we’ve created a contact lens fitting experience that’s built around people, not pressure. Our staff speaks Spanish, Urdu, Bengali, Hindi, and more, so if you or a family member would feel more comfortable learning about lenses in your own language, we’re happy to make that happen.
