Vision Support for Student Athletes & Active Families

Good vision is part of playing well in any sport. Whether your child is learning to track a ball or trying out for varsity, we support student athletes with routine exams, sport-friendly contact lens fittings, and guidance on eyewear.

We also care for active adults and weekend athletes looking to protect their eyes, reduce glare, or improve comfort while staying active. Our goal is simple: help you or your child feel more confident in how you see, and how that vision holds up under pressure.

Vision Services We Provide for Athletes

We tailor eye care to the athlete’s age, sport, and visual demands. Depending on what’s needed, a sports vision visit may include:

  • Vision exams with a focus on depth perception, clarity, and tracking.

  • Contact lens evaluations, especially for first-time wearers or teens in fast-paced sports.

  • Glasses and protective eyewear fitting for impact-heavy sports.

  • Prescription sunglasses and anti-glare lens options for outdoor play.

  • Return-to-play vision checks after injury or surgery.

This care is part of what we already do, we just apply it to the demands of athletics.

Contact Lenses That Work for Sports

We fit soft lenses for most student athletes who want to avoid glasses during games or practice. For teens in myopia management, we may recommend options like:

  • Ortho-k lenses worn overnight, offering clear vision all day

  • MiSight® daily lenses—safe and simple for active younger patients.

  • Soft spherical or toric lenses for clear, stable correction during movement.

We also take the time to train new wearers and talk through lens care with the athlete and their parent, especially for those just starting out.

Safety & Comfort on the Field

Many sports require eye protection or benefit from gear that reduces glare, enhances contrast, or stays put during movement. We help with:

  • Wraparound, shatter-resistant frames for baseball, basketball, and football.

  • Non-slip fits for sports goggles and prescription inserts.

  • Tinted or photochromic lenses for changing outdoor light.

  • Help adjusting fit under helmets or safety headgear.

If your child already wears glasses, we’ll help select frames that hold up to impact and movement, without getting in the way.

Vision Care That Keeps Up With the Season

We care for athletes as young as age 4, and support them as they grow into more competitive play. Our team regularly works with middle school and high school athletes adjusting to new sports, new glasses, or new vision needs.

We also help with care before or after surgery or injury, including visual clearance for return-to-play when needed. Our team works closely with parents and coaches to make sure nothing is missed.
