Dr. Umar Ishaque, O.D., M.P.H

Founder, Commerce Family Eyecare

Dr. Umar Ishaque founded Commerce Family Eyecare with one goal in mind: to provide steady, thoughtful eye care to patients of all ages without the pressure, the waitlists, or the drive to a metro clinic.

Originally from Montreal, Dr. Ishaque studied Physiology at McGill University before completing a Master’s in Public Health at Tulane University. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University, where he focused on ocular disease and medical eye care.

After relocating to Georgia, Dr. Ishaque opened his practice in Commerce to serve a growing need for full-scope vision care in the region. Today, he provides everything from routine exams to chronic disease management, low vision rehabilitation, and surgical co-management, always taking the time to explain, listen, and walk patients through their care at a comfortable pace.

He is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association and is a fellow of IALVS.

Dr. Ishaque speaks Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and French, and believes that clear communication in the language someone understands best is central to good care. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, camping, volunteering in his community, and catching a good movie when he can.
